Connecting with your designated OISS Adviser
The first step is knowing who your OISS adviser is! Find out who your OISS adviser is here if you're unsure.
Ways to connect with your adviser:
- Email - while it may take us a few days to get back to you due to our high volume of email traffic, we promise that we will do our best to answer your questions as quickly as we can
- Schedule an appointment - best for more complex conversations such as employment, academic changes, etc.
- In-person office hours - come to OISS during their scheduled office hours to be seen on a first-come first-served basis
- Virtual office hours - held over Zoom, join their waiting room during their listed times
General Virtual Drop-In Advising in the Mornings
Our virtual drop-in hours are available on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. EST.
General virtual drop-in advising is for quick questions, such as travel advice or renewing your visa, which should take no more than 5 minutes. The majority of your questions should be directed to your designated OISS adviser to receive the most comprehensive advice.
Office Closings
OISS will be closed every Tuesday and between 12:00 and 1:00 pm every day for lunch, as well as for any official Yale holidays and recess days. See Hours, Directions, & Parking for details.
OISS Building Hours
OISS will be open for picking up and dropping off documents on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, and from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. Our doors are closed on Tuesdays, and from 12:00 to 1:00 pm every day during lunch hour.
Starting the week of September 14th, OISS will be open from 5:00 to 9:00 pm, Mondays through Fridays for events, and as a community space. Please feel free to come by and hang out in the office, or book our space for events or group meetings.
