OISS is excited to announce a new volunteer position for Graduate and Professional international students with our office for the upcoming academic year! Details are below and applications are due by September 15.
What is the role?
As an International Student Ambassador, you'll help OISS reach your school's international student community through your designated channels, making sure fellow students stay connected with OISS resources and support. You'll work closely with OISS's Communications Fellow and Engagement Team. We're looking for one representative from each Graduate & Professional school to join the team.
What we're looking for:
- A strong communicator who's active within your school's student community
- Familiarity with and access to your school's internal communication channels — Slack, Slate, email listservs, WhatsApp groups, etc.
- Connections to students across class years, not just your own cohort
- Someone looking for a low-lift, high-impact way to give back to Yale's international community
Time commitment:
Ambassadors meet virtually once a month with the Communications Fellow and fellow ambassadors (30–60 minutes), and have the option to join two meals per year with the OISS Engagement team to share insights on the international student experience and help OISS keep improving it. The role runs October through April.
Compensation & benefits:
This is a volunteer position with OISS, so it won't count against your eligible work hours at Yale as an international student. Ambassadors receive two meals throughout the academic year, plus a strong resume line and a meaningful way to give back to Yale's international community.
