Every November, the Office of International Students and Scholars makes special arrangements for interested international students and scholars, and sometimes their families, to join a Yale-affiliated family for the Thanksgiving dinner. This is one of our favorite traditions, and a great opportunity to experience an American holiday with a local family.
Become a Host for Thanksgiving at Home
Are you interested in getting to know the members of Yale's international community? In keeping with one of our favorite traditions, OISS is seeking members of the Yale community who are keen to share their table on Thanksgiving with two or more international students and scholars.
All hosts will receive the names and contact information of their guests after the matches have been made approx. one week before the holiday. If you have questions about becoming a host, please contact Charlie Lee, International Community Engagement Specialist, at charlie.lee@yale.edu.

Our Thanksgiving at Home program continues to be one of our most popular events of the year. There is no better way to experience the traditions of the Thanksgiving holiday than with a local Yalie family. Our hosts come from a variety of backgrounds in the Yale community, each with their unique take on the Thanksgiving traditions.
We always try our best to place as many students and scholars as possible, but we cannot guarantee your space until you have been matched with a host and until your confirmation with us. To sign up for this program, you must be available all day on Thanksgiving (27 Nov, 2025) to be placed with a family. Please only sign-up if you are positive that you can attend this program.
You will be contacted no later than the Friday before the holiday (Nov 21, 2025) to confirm that you have been matched with a host family, and further details will be shared at that time. Get ready for some turkey, mashed potatoes, and pumpkin pie!
