OISS Staff Updates & Caseload Changes

March 16, 2026

We are excited to introduce you to two new team members, announce some staff departures, and make a few changes to advising caseloads.

Please read through the changes below, and check if your designated adviser has changed. You can find contact information for everyone on our team on the OISS Staff page, and you can search by your department or school name to find out your designated OISS adviser on the Connect with OISS page.

New Members of the OISS Team

Please join us in welcoming our two new members to the team.

Catherine Hernandez, Adviser

Catherine is originally from Las Vegas, NV, and grew up in a Spanish/English bilingual household as her family is originally from Colima, Mexico. Catherine holds a master’s in Italian from Middlebury Language Schools and a bachelor’s in Italian from Vassar College. Prior to her time at Yale, she worked at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, as an International Scholar Advisor. In her free time, she enjoys reading, listening to her favorite podcast (Leyendas Legendarias), and exploring Connecticut and the New England region with her husband.

Egla Rrashi, Adviser

Egla was born in Shkoder, Albania, and immigrated to the US shortly after. She earned her B.A. in Political Science with a focus on Labor Studies from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, and is currently pursuing her Master's in International and Comparative Education. While at Indiana University, she helped international students with their admission and maintenance of status. She joins Yale OISS after assisting international students and scholars at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.

Staff Leaves & Departures

Clementine Pomies, OISS Adviser, will be going out on leave in early March and will return in August or September. Coverage has been arranged to cover her schools and departments, so please check the OISS Connect page to see who your new point of contact is until Clem returns.

Shana Kay Watson has accepted a new position at Yale and will be leaving OISS on March 27. Temporary coverage has been arranged, so please check the OISS Connect page to confirm who your new adviser is if Shana Kay was your designated adviser.

Additional Changes to Adviser Caseloads

With these staffing changes, we have had to make a few additional changes to advising caseloads. Please always refer to the search function on the Connect with OISS page to confirm who your designated adviser will be.

As always, if you have any questions about this, please reach out to us, and we will point you in the right direction as we go through this transition together!
