Catherine Hernandez
Catherine is an Adviser at OISS. She is originally from Las Vegas, NV and grew up in a Spanish/English bilingual household as her family is originally from Colima, Mexico. Catherine holds a master’s in Italian from Middlebury Language Schools and bachelor’s in Italian from Vassar College.
During her time at Vassar, she studied abroad for a semester in Bologna, Italy, and participated in short-term study abroad trips in Italy, Mexico, and the United Kingdom. After her undergrad, she worked as an English teaching assistant in northern Italy and later worked as an au pair in Spain.
Prior to her time at Yale, she worked at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas as an International Scholar Advisor. In her free time, she enjoys reading, listening to her favorite podcast (Leyendas Legendarias), and exploring Connecticut and the New England region with her husband.
My Adviser Connect (MAC) hours function like virtual office hours. Your adviser has a set time each week during which they will be available on Zoom. You can check the calendar below to confirm which times they will be available for MAC hours. Advisers will update this calendar if they will not be able to attend their regular Mac hours for the week, so please confirm their availability before joining.
During your adviser’s MAC hours, complete this form to let them know why you are joining, and then click the Zoom link. Please note that this service operates on a first-come, first-served basis, so you may experience a short wait before being admitted. If you join outside of the regular MAC hours, your adviser will not see you. These hours are designed for quick immigration or Yale-related questions and are not a replacement for scheduling an appointment with your OISS adviser for more in-depth advising.
