This week’s #humansofoiss features the OISS Armadillo (“Dillo” for short) from Costa Rica. He is a mischievous staff member whose favorite thing to do is hide around the office and surprise the OISS staff.

Dillo is a Sagittarius and an ISFP. He grew up in Costa Rica and now lives at OISS. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Bigfoot Hunting and a Master’s degree in Extraterrestrial Conspiracy Theories, both from the Yale School of Cryptozoology.

This week, I interviewed Mattia Vezzoli from Italy. He is a PhD student in Electrical Engineering.

Mattia was born in Desenzano del Garda and did his engineering studies at Universita degli studi di Brescia for his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. While he was writing his thesis during his Master’s, he was offered an internship opportunity at Yale and he spent six months working as a research assistant. After returning to Italy and working for two years there, Mattia decided to come back to Yale and continue his scientific career as a PhD student.

I interviewed George Palaiokrassas from Greece for this week’s #humansofoiss. George is a Postdoc Associate in Electrical Engineering and Yale Institute for Network Science (YINS). He grew up in Athens, Greece and studied electrical & computer engineering at the National Technical University of Athens. George conducted his undergraduate, graduate and postdoc studies there where his research was focused on machine learning and blockchain and he had opportunities to attend many conferences. Eventually he decided to join Yale for new experiences abroad.

“I’m currently a pre-doctoral research associate in the Yale Program of Financial Stability led by Prof. Andrew Metrick under the School of Management. My responsibility along with the other RA’s is to prepare case-studies on interventions that were influential in shaping financial crises of the past so that we can prevent history from repeating itself by helping policy-makers take well-informed decisions.
