Paying the Fee
All USCIS filing fee payments must be made via credit card. To facilitate payment, the department is responsible for providing the appropriate COA information. This information must be submitted along with the completed EB Sponsorship Attestation Form when submitting the sponsorship request to OISS. After the petition is filed with USCIS, the department will confirm and approve the charges in Workday.

*The initial H-1B application refers specifically to the first H-1B visa sponsorship process involving Yale University and does not include other visa types or H-1B applications initially sponsored by other institutions or sponsors.
**Due to extended regular processing times, H-1B petitions at Yale are typically filed with Premium Processing. For case-specific guidance, please consult your OISS adviser. Unless the department communicates concerns to OISS, petitions will proceed with Premium Processing.
*** This estimate does not include dependent application fees. OISS does not process or handle fee payments for dependent applications. The employee and department must coordinate payment arrangements independently of OISS.
About the Fees
Petition Filing Fee
$460. The base petition fee for the filing of the H-1B petition. This fee must be paid by the department.
Anti-Fraud Fee
$500. The government fraud protection/detection fee is a one-time fee required for any employee being sponsored for H-1B status with Yale as a 'new' petition, even if they currently hold H-1B status with another employer. This fee must be paid by the department.
(Optional) Expedited (Premium) Processing Fee
$2,805. Premium Processing is an expedited service offered by USCIS that guarantees a response within 15 business days of receiving the H-1B petition (Form I-129). Due to extended regular processing times, Premium Processing is typically the default option for H-1B petitions filed through Yale. For case-specific guidance on whether Premium Processing is necessary, please consult your OISS adviser.
In accordance with legal requirements, this fee must be paid by the department. The employee may only pay the fee if the expedited service is necessary for personal reasons unrelated to employment needs, and only if doing so does not reduce their annual wage below the required prevailing wage (see Prevailing Wage guidelines).
Premium Processing may be requested at the time of the initial petition filing or added later to an existing petition filed under regular processing. If you wish to upgrade to Premium Processing after the initial submission, please contact your OISS adviser for guidance.
Family Members
$420 for online, or $470 for paper filing. The dependent application fee for H-4 status (Form I-539/I-539A) for family members. This fee is generally paid by the employee, but the department may choose to cover it. Please note that OISS does not process or handle fee payments for dependent applications. The employee and department must coordinate payment arrangements independently of OISS.
