Meet Salma [?][?]! Originally from Egypt, Salma embarked on a remarkable journey that led her to Yale for her one-year postgraduate studies during her medical school study at the University of Wurzburg in Germany. With a focus on thrombosis in different hematological at the Yale Cancer Center and Yale Cardiovascular Research Center, she’s making strides in the field of medicine.

What drives her passion for medicine? Salma’s upbringing in a family of doctors ignited her desire to truly help others in their most vulnerable moments, both physically and mentally. For Salma, medicine is not about changing the world, but about making impactful changes in one person’s life at a time. It’s about putting yourself in your patient’s shoes, both professionally and personally.
Salma’s journey didn’t stop in Egypt; she embarked on an incredible adventure to Germany, where she learned the language (not an easy language to learn!), overcame obstacles, and pursued her dream of becoming a physician scientist. Her experience in the U.S. and Germany taught her valuable lessons about cultural differences and the importance of inclusivity: people from different backgrounds can respect each other and work together to make the world a better place.
But that’s not all–Salma is not only into medicine but also deeply interested in AI application in medicine and healthcare and health politics. She actively contributes to the field by working on the organizing committee of conferences like the German American Conference at Harvard Kennedy School, as well as participating in Model United Nations. Additionally, she’s part of the Berlin-based Student Network for Open Science ( previously Berlin Exchange Medicine) where she is working on AI related projects.
Outside of her rigorous studies, she finds joy in exploring new cities, taking long walks, hanging out with friends and indulging in a good book.
Salma’s story reminds us that the pursuit of knowledge and the desire to make a difference knows no borders. She exemplifies the power of resilience, dedication, and the universal language of compassion.
