Official Schengen Travel Ban Exemption

In July the U.S. State Department announced exemptions to the Presidential Proclamations affecting travel from the Schengen region, Ireland and the U.K. On July 24th the Custom and Border Protection agency (CBP) posted a bulletin for airline carriers stating that F-1 students who have valid F visas do not need a pre-clearance exemption. F-1 students residing in these regions are encouraged to print this bulletin and to travel with it in case there are questions. Please note that J-1 students are not included in this automatic exemption. The State Department exemptions state that J-1 Exchange Visitors who “believe they may qualify for a national interest exception should contact the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate before traveling.”
