What is MyOISS?
MyOISS is the new immigration case management system at Yale. An immigration case management system is designed to streamline and simplify the process of managing immigration-related tasks and compliance. At Yale, MyOISS, serves as a centralized platform for departments and international students and scholars to handle a variety of tasks related to immigration.
MyOISS provides comprehensive support for managing visa applications, tracking visa statuses, ensuring compliance with immigration regulations, and facilitating communication between international members, OISS advisers, and administrative staff.

Frequently Asked Questions
MyOISS will offer enhanced case management tools, intuitive workflows, and clearer instructions to support more complete submissions from the start – helping reduce delays and creating a more efficient and user-friendly process for everyone involved. We are genuinely excited about the improvements this will bring for both departments and scholars.
MyOISS will initially be launched with fully developed workflows for J-1 processing, but as we expand to include all visa types, the system will ensure that both the department and the scholar provide all required documentation and information before a case can proceed. The intuitive platform will guide users through each step, making the process clear, efficient, and easy to follow.
By leveraging this system, Yale ensures a collaborative, efficient, and compliant experience for everyone involved in hosting and supporting international scholars and employees.
Eventually, yes, but initially it will only be for scholars. MyOISS will initially replace all functionality of OISS Connect for scholars (faculty, researchers, postgraduate and postdoctoral trainees, interns, employees, etc.) only. Students (all degree and non-degree students, including VARs, exchange students, visiting students, etc.; i.e. those international individuals who are onboarded in Banner) will continue to use OISS Connect for immigration management. We expect the student functionality launch for MyOISS to be in summer 2026.
OISS will officially transition to MyOISS on October 1, 2025. In preparation for this transition, an extensive amount of work needs to be done behind the scenes to transfer all the case data and documents. Because of this, departments will be unable to submit any new requests during the month of September. However, scholars will continue to use OISS Connect for requests during this outage, and OISS will manually reconcile any changes into the new system.
OISS Connect is closed to departmental request submissions, but any request you submit as a scholar in OISS Connect until September 30th will still be processed as usual. You will start using myOISS starting October 1st.
