1. Could you share a memorable moment from your first day on Yale’s campus
When I arrived and saw Yale’s campus for my first time, I was overwhelmed by how effective it is in communicating the glorious calm of education and research. I think that is the highest effect a university can hope to achieve to foster students’ aspirations. Yale’s colleges, libraries and spaces appeared to me the perfect place to study.
2. What’s your research?
I am here at Yale’s Department of Philosophy to conduct research on the role of eternity in our lives, moving from Parmenides - ancient Greek philosopher - and Emanuele Severino, one of the greatest Italian philosophers of last century. What I plan to argue is that our lives are eternal, although not in the classic sense of immortality. They are eternal in the present, where a “vertical infinity” silently - but constantly - surrounds us.
3. What are your future aspirations?
Yale’s cultural environment is such a unique one. I have met very stimulating colleagues and am attending very stimulating courses. I would like to continue to be affiliated with Yale in the future to conduct my research in such a prosperous place.
