American Guitar resources

The following are resources for the American Guitar series, Fall 2017. In four separate sessions we will survey several styles of American music (mainly “folk” based) from the Revolutionary roots to the 1960s. Parker Emerson (amateur musician and OISS staff member) will lead in lecture and song playing guitar, ukulele, mandolin and more. Participants are welcome to bring their own instruments (any kind, not just guitar) and we all get to sing! This program is designed for those who did not grow-up in the U.S. to learn a little about American culture and history through traditional lyrics and music. All sessions will be held at OISS, 421 Temple Street at 5:30 on the dates listed below. Registration for each date is required, children are welcome. The following are some resources related to each specific session.
